A Unique Language

Hey everyone,

This is my first ever blog for Human Communications.Indeed,I have never written a blog before,so I'm quite excited to start it and hope you guys can enjoy reading it. =)

Based on my title today, I would like to write about Sign Language.Sign Language is actually a language that convey meaning using visually transmitted sign patterns (manual communications, body language and lip patterns). It simultaneously combines hand shapes, orientation and movement of the hands, arms or body, and facial expressions to fluidly express a speaker's thoughts.

Sign Language commonly develop in deaf communities, which can include interpreters and friends and families of deaf people as well as people who are deaf or hard of hearing themselves. Sign languages develop whenever communities of deaf people exist. In fact, their complex spatial grammars are markedly different from the grammars of spoken languages. Hundreds of sign languages are in use around the world and are at the cores of local Deaf cultures. Some sign languages have obtained some form of legal recognition, while others have no status at all.

Today, this sign system is known as the American Sign Language. It is known to be one of the most refined languages in the world. Different angles and movements of fingers are used to form alphabets and connecting them into a sentence. This is a form of manual communication. Most signs are used to represent things and objects and not one single word. Because there will be a need of many types of hand movements if it was to represent a single word. Therefore, to make it easier, a sentence can be formed with the blend of signs of objects, ideas as well as alphabets.

The deaf have made their language a very creative and interesting one to learn on.I am just so amazed and fascinated by this unique language.I really hope I can learn at least a little from this language.
